There’s no question that a lot of work from home online products are scams. However, I’m going to be generous and say that I think there are a lot fewer than one would think. I don’t believe it’s really about the system being an actively malicious attempt to grab money and run; rather, they usually involve way too much hype and try to appeal to the very trait that most hinders their operations: laziness. If you want to make money on the internet, keep the following things in mind when deciding what service to use:
There WILL Be Other Costs.
Now I’m not saying that every work from home online site is a scam that will charge $99 to get started followed by $249 a month to actually get anything done (though they exist). What I’m saying is that if you just take whatever stock template you are given, slap it on a new domain, and sit around waiting for the money to roll in, it will never happen. You need to market your new site, and it certainly doesn’t hurt to get some cheap website design and cheap SEO of your own to maximize your chances. In other words, rather than looking at the work from home online site as a one-stop business generator, look at it as a product you are purchasing to resell; you might get a great deal on a good product, but it will still take time and money to market.
It WILL Require More Work.
There are millions and millions of websites on the internet, and thousands to millions competing in certain niches. Turning your website into a success means offering something your competition doesn’t, even if that something is only “you found me first”. This means coming up with and implementing some additional strategy so that the sales come to you.
The Returns WILL Take Time To Accumulate.
You aren’t going to be seeing an immediate stream of income, and certainly not one that is significant enough to meaningfully affect your finances. Even the best SEO takes time to move a site up; often quite a bit of time, depending on how heavily competed the keywords are. You will also probably have to modify your strategies a couple of times before you get it perfect.
You Should NOT Quit Your Day Job.
Related to the above point, one of the worst possible things you can do when starting an online business is to go immediately into focusing your full attention on it. You need to keep up with it, of course, but until it is turning a stable enough profit to maintain your lifestyle, you need to have a steady income coming in.
They DO Expect This To Work.
All these points may conflict with some of the hype you see in these sites, but to be fair, this doesn’t mean these sites are scams. It just means they aren’t taking pains to point out the challenges involved with making these systems work. I’d bet that most of them really do think that people can make good money with their services, and even go so far as to say that in many cases, people can. It just requires knowing what to expect and working at it until you succeed, just like with any other business.
